What is a "DMO"??    We're glad you asked!

A Destination Marketing/Management Organization (DMO), often called a visitor bureau, is responsible for promoting a community as an attractive travel destination and for enhancing its public image as a dynamic place to live and work. Through the impact of visitors, the DMO strengthens the economic position and provides opportunities for people to work in its community.

Destination promotion is a public good for the benefit and well-being of all. It is an essential investment no community can afford to abate without causing detriment to the community’s future economic and social well-being. DMOs are especially important for small or medium sized markets that have to compete against the major metropolitan areas of our state, such as Tampa or Orlando.

To generate overnight stays, increase tax revenues, stimulate economic growth, provide historical education, promote ecotourism, and strive to constantly enhance the image of Hardee County.
